The Small Bears On The Run

Despite TBW's reporting that Albert has an ouchie, Cubs fans are already worried that this may mean he will be raining hellfire, or maybe the Wrath of Khan even, down upon them sometime soon.

Big Al played through the injury last year, and his season wasn’t exactly a bust. I expect more of the same from him this year, which as a Cubs fan just means more pain.

Sometimes it's nice to have more than the David Schwimmer to root for...

It sure was nice to immediately have a fearsome hitter come along to replace Mark McGwire with, wasn't it? Same year delivery, even.

It's too bad about McGwire. I think that 2002 team could have won it all with a somewhat-recovered McGwire in the lineup. Think about a Rolen/Edmonds/McGwire/Pujols killing machine in the middle of the order, when you consider what he hit in 2000. (.305/.483/.746.) My goodness.

As much as I would've loved to visualize that, I doubt that they would've felt the need to trade for Rolen if Pujols was still playing third base (which, if Mac had stuck around one more year, likely would've been the case). Still, Edmonds-Mac-Pujols-Drew ain't too shabby if J.D. were healthy also.
