Game Chatter 041005

« Yesterday's Ugliness | Main | Cool? »

I suppose somebody should put up a Game Chatter. But Carpenter just gave up a 3-run homer to Burrell and it's 5-0 Phils in the 3rd. The Cardinals look like they weren't ready for the start of the season. Even though it turned into a 105-win season, this was also true last year, and the year before. Maybe the manager's too busy with his second job of supervising the official scorer.

I'm going to spend some time enjoying the weather.

You beat me too it. What an ugly weekend.

I just got back from a nice stroll around downtown Boston on a gorgeous spring afternoon. I flipped on the game and it was in the top of the 3rd with 2 out, Phils up 1-0. Here is what I witnessed next, from that moment on:

Lofton triple.
Abreu RBI single.
Thome walk.
Burrell, with another one of his 3-run homers.
Bell walk.
Utley single.
Liberthal ground out.

Yuck.

Cards being no hit through 3.

Some suggestions on ways to fill your afternoon:

Taxes due in 6 days.

Max Payne 2 is quit entertaining. Don't care how many times I do it plugging nameless minions with lead never gets old.

I'm hopeing it warms up enough to go swimming this afternoon.

Pretty much anything but watch this train wreck.

Ugh, it got worse. The only question here is whether Mabry pitches the 9th.

Maybe Diaz will pitch the 9th.

It's so bad my computer crashed when I started the audio feed.

I'm not worried. I sat through every game of that 1-6 start at home last year, and some of those were just as ugly as these last two. It's a loooooong season.

I'm one of those guys that never wants to leave a game early, and I barely stayed through the 7th inning today. I have to admit I watched the rest from a bar (saving $7 on beer), but wow, what a terrible game (save for Alberto's 1st homer of the season perhaps). For the game recap, I nominate... nobody.
