So now we get to find out whether American Idol contestant, Niko Smith gets his singing chops from his mom or his HOF father, Ozzie. Just in time for Mother's Day, Major League Baseball has released Oh Say Can You Sing? a two disc package (CD & DVD) featuring 10 current major leaguers and Ozzie Smith singing, rapping and/or sometimes playing their favorite songs. The DVD features recording session footage, interviews and... wait for it.... a tour of the Wizard's home memorabilia room! [Here's my Tony La Russa voodoo doll...]

I was kind of hoping for a version of Take This Job and Shove It by Steve Stone and maybe Mark McGwire singing Why Don't You Love Me (Like You Used To)...

The album hits record stores and ballparks next Tueday, May 10, but you can get it now at MLB.com.

The Dillards? If I'm not mistaken, that was the hillbilly band that was occasionally featured in the old black-and-white Andy Griffith Show---they were awesome!!! Real downhome pickin' and fiddlin' with the girl vocalist who'd belt out the numbers with her brothers harmonizing.... and the old man on the jug.
