The Matheny Line

Yadier Molina started the year 1 for 31. Then on Mother's Day, just when he was poised to break the Mendoza Line, Yadier had to go and sprain his ankle. Well, maybe he just needed 31 at-bats to figure it out because since he got his second hit of the season, young Yady has batted .320. After a 4 for 4 performance Wednesday night against the Pirates, Mr. Molina broke the Matheny Line (currently .251). Add in the fact that Yady has thrown out 69% of the runners trying to steal on him and I think it's safe to say that Yadier Molina is en fuego. |
I think he's got us all saying yada, yada, yady?
Wow, I've gotten really out of touch with baseball cards. What brand is that one?
Also, I've only ever been pissed at matheny once, when he sliced his hand with that hunting knife. Ridiculous.
Posted by: Ryan at May 26, 2005 02:05 PMThat is Mike Matheny's 1994 Bowman (#673) Rookie Card. I can't be pissed at him either, after all he taught everything he knows to Yady before he hit the road... And it's not like he really wanted to hit the road, it's just the Cards weren't willing to pay him that much money when they could have Yady for 1/10 of the cost.

Just sweet unis. They also had an alternate cap that was navy with a green bill. No baseball team ever wore navy and green and gold together. But it works for Notre Dame....
Anyway, much better than the wheat underlined "M" they have now... but not near as cool as the retro "mb" glove.
