Eckstein
« Operation Marquis Garden | Main | Reyes to Start Against Milwaukee? »I had work to do, so I turned off the TV after Isringhausen gave up the insurance run. So is this some sort of elaborate joke?
D. Eckstein homered to deep left, A. Nunez, S. Taguchi and H. Luna scored
Holy mackerel.

Posted by: at August 7, 2005 05:27 PMYeah... wow. I figured they'd lost too until I got a celebratory phone call about it. So I had to hustle home to be able to see it on Baseball Tonight. Wow. Wow, wow, wow.

More than anything else, I think, baseball teaches us to never give up hope. Even when we should.
Posted by: Bill at August 7, 2005 08:39 PMI got home at 4:35 or so (Eastern), in time to see the Cards losing 3-1, ending the top of the 9th. I plop down on the couch with a sore back and start watching the bottom half, and hear Nunez, Taguchi, Luna??? Nunez reaches. Alright, they'll still lose. Taguchi singles. The baseball gods are laughing at me, giving them just enough of a chance and then take it away. That silly Luna infield single, then the out by Seabol. Ah, perfect time for a double play.
Grand Slammeh! I was hysterical.
